Sending Envelopes
Understanding Signing Order (Sequential vs Parallel)
How SignFlow decides who gets notified and when.
Parallel
Every recipient gets their signing link by email as soon as you send the envelope. They can sign in any order, at their own pace.
Sequential
Recipients are grouped into ordered steps (based on the roles' order on the template). Only the first step's recipients are emailed right away. As soon as everyone required in that step finishes, SignFlow automatically emails the next step's recipients. A recipient whose turn hasn't arrived yet will see a "not your turn" message if they try to open their link early.
Mixed
A combination: some steps contain more than one recipient (who act in parallel with each other), while the steps themselves still happen in order.
CC recipients
Recipients marked as CC never get a signing link at all — they simply receive the final signed document by email once the whole envelope is completed.
